No, Thank YOU!

This morning I posted a link on my Facebook page to a "Thank You" letter Philip Lutzenkirchen wrote to his family, coaches, fans, and others for the wonderful career and wonderful time he had at Auburn.  You can see that letter here.  If you're even a semi-regular reader of this Blog, you know that I absolutely love Lutzie, and his letter is just another example of why.  So here is my response:

Dear Lutzie,
Thank you for being everything an Auburn Man is supposed to be.  Thank you for personifying the Creed.  Thank you for never doing anything to embarrass your school or to hurt your team.  Thank you for being so dedicated to your work with children who are fighting cancer.  Thank you for being open about your Faith - you are truly the "Light of the Church" (although perhaps your alias should be "LutzenAuburn," because you're also the Light of Auburn).  Thank you for being 100% Auburn ever since you were the first to fax your signing papers in 2009.  Thank you for playing (and playing well!) through the pain of several injuries.  Thank you for declining to play, not when the pain got too unbearable, but when you thought the team was suffering due to your inability to play at the level to which you were accustomed.  Thanks for your record-setting (for an Auburn TE) 14 touchdowns, especially that game-winning touchdown in the 2010 Iron Bowl and that amazing one-handed catch against Ole Miss in 2011.  Thank you for that "goofy, embarrassing, silly, little dance" you gave us - it's pure gold.  Thank you for blocking like a beast when you weren't catching the ball.  Thank you for returning to Auburn for your Senior season, although I know that season turned out to be less than you had hoped for and definitely less than you deserved.  You're my favorite Auburn player of all time, and I can't imagine anyone ever bumping you from that spot.  No matter how the Draft goes this weekend, you will most definitely go on to do great things.  May God continue to bless you.
War Eagle!
